Charlotte's Fate Poem by Shirley Harrison

Charlotte's Fate

I stood on her with my clumsy shoe
of course, totally by accident
becoming numb for a moment
reflecting on my regret
knowing that it's bad luck to kill a spider here, in Italy

I then started to envision
about, what sort of day I would now have?

after a very short pause…
I decided
not to over obsess
on the bad luck
I have now brought upon my own soul
it was clearly in the hands of karma...

but my goodness
I actually had a terrific day.
