Chase The Dream Poem by Liberty Smart

Chase The Dream

She's got your eyes, you know?
Brown and gentle, just like... well, yours.
And when she asked what you looked like
I told her to look in the mirror.

She reminds me of you.

And when she asks why you left
I tell her that I don't know,
Even though I do.

But how can I tell her that you left behind everything you loved,
just to chase a dream?
How can I tell her that your dreams take you beyond her ken
And in the same breath remind her of your desire to be here with us?

I cannot, so I do not, and when... no
If
you return, I will let you tell her that you love her,
but you had to leave to chase some stupid, reckless dream
from a childhood long left behind.
