Chasing The Dragon Poem by Vanessa King

Chasing The Dragon

Rating: 3.5

A Mystical land of golden, glittering dust
For when you breathe in, you lust
This magical coil will take you and your trust
And once on her ship, you will worship the dusk

And upon her ship, the wooden decks are glowing
as your heartache is gone, and you are gladly following
All the crown of thorns once there, are burning
Land Ahoy! Her ship seems to be turning

Commence this journey, I fuelled her with desire
but now there're big waves, and it is me who is on fire
now I am lost, stranded on an island in its hills, so much higher
my once furry world has slipped, as I fall on barbed wire

So, in that Mystical land, complete with its forbidden fruit
Haven't you heard, take a bite then, and she will take all your loot
A dragon cannot be caught, so leave this faraway land

For one day, Alone you shall stand

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A story about a friend who lost his life to drugs, a poem dedicated to him, and to everyone or anyone fighting the same battle.... His life inspired me to write this, because now, he is gone, and with him, he took all his talent, and left a beautiful pregnant wife to wonder...
