Chocking My Heart Away Poem by Alvin Magsino

Chocking My Heart Away

I can’t wait for the sunrise
I wanna die tonight
I’m afraid to see the dawn
because God! - I wish no more hope

For she ripped my heart away
She tells me ‘I love you’ in a furtive way
The single month I waited
felt like a light-year lying in bed

Why can’t she be proud of me?
Perhaps, I’ am just this unsightly
or maybe, she contains no heart
for a man as poor as I am

We’ve done what’s prohibited
We’ve shared together heaven and earth
The blood of her she let me taste
turned me into a demon she immediately caged

Now, I am a dog tied in a corner
of my imaginations and dreams
Only to find out I’m just an alchemist
who can never turn iron into gold

I placed my logic in a box
Now, I want it back!
