Chocolate is my downfall
It beckons me so slyly
It sits upon my highest shelf
and whispers oh so shyly
“I’m here.” “ I’m here.” “Remember where
You placed me yesterday
To help resist temptation
When putting me away.”
“You know how gently I will melt
upon your tongue. The smooth
sensation as you taste me and
That craving I can soothe.”
“So now reach up and take me down
unwrap my rich reward.”
It cajoles and it coaxes
It can not be ignored
I’m such a wimp in this conflict
Lord shrive me of my sins
No matter how much I resist
The chocolate always wins
