Chorbagan Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

Chorbagan

Drops falling from the sky on the leaf
Different from the drops that fall below
Wetting progressively the dry leaves - slow
A little sunshine - glistening; leaves glow.
From the east and the north, winds blow
Crowd swells; the speed gradually slow.
A sudden rush and then there are people
Running all around, minds are so fickle.
Then doubt - turn, tears, nowhere to go
Mother sheds tears - I told her 'No'.
......
Sandals lie in a heap
Night: there is no sleep
She told her not to go
What waits she didn't know.
.......
A moment and an evil
Chorbagan - she is still.
