Christ’s Disunited Church Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Christ’s Disunited Church

There’s nothing worse this side of hell
Than hatred of another
So Jesus came and died to tell
Man; should love his brother

Once lost in sin and doomed to die
I answered God’s command
“Ok my God I can but try
To make them understand”

It seems that all are teachers Lord
That everybody knows
Yet churches clash with tongue and sword
And disobedience flows

One church says this, another that
They all say truth is there
Though all have ‘welcome’ on the mat
There’s not a lot who care

Selfishness is common place
Often from head to tail
Both day and night they fall from grace
In epidemic scale

Factions are forming everywhere
Denominational clans
Not few seek for the highest chair
Whilst forming selfish plans

How can your church divided learn?
How can she serve Your Son?
Our Groom You said would not return
Until the bride is one

Have mercy Lord remove the sin
Revive the love of yore
Rekindle embers found within
Unite us as before
