~christmas Snow~ Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

~christmas Snow~

Rating: 5.0

What tranquility is this, that leaves me fozen in a dream-like trance.
There beyond my frosted pane a single lamp post in the night
Her halo glitters as snowflakes wink and glide on an invisible staircase
Parading downward in a solemn ancient procession

This post barely taller than I seems to call all goodness home
This midnight blanket gift sent to momentarily cover our indiscretions
There in a spotlight at her feet a ring of soft virgin snow
Tiny crystals and illuminating miracles glow before my enchanted eyes

Edmund- -it is my most fervent desire to be able to write a poem like this- -a poem of sheer uninterrupted beauty. I was so enchanted by the following line that it took several minutes to return to my journey through this poem. - - - - - - - snowflakes wink and glide on an invisible staircase Parading downward in a solemn ancient procession - - - - - - - - - - - Thank you for sharing this- - it's like a guiding star. Putting on my favorties list and giving it a million billion stars of its own. 10's, a skyful of 10's

O Zuzana- - Merry Christmas to you. Such flattery. My head is as big as an over-sized snowman. Madathil is so wise isn't he? So thoughtful and so very right about your talent. Seriously, he is correct and like me he too finds the message so uniquely YOU. Life is full of so many odd people but we poets that immerse ourselves in the limitless talents of our kindred spirits make it all wonderful again.

Just read and commented on Susan William's poem on winter and snow and, presto, here you are with the same theme. You look at it like a philosopher. That is the difference, where as she was romantic. I just had my first close encounter with snow four days back in Seattle when the whole landscape turned purely white with the leafless trees standing like ashen Indian sadhus. Since then, the snow has melted and things are back to normal. As did Susan William's poem, yours too brought that sweet memory of a snow-clad night back to me. Thank you very much. (10)

Merry Christmas my good friend. First let me tell you that I shared your thoughts regarding the sickulars with friends and family and they too were overwhelmed with knowing that so many physical miles between us is no barrier to a kindred spirit in love of nation, family, humanity and tradition. Perhaps we can all rendezvous in Seattle some day with Susan too and have tea and delight in our common bonds. Let me tell you Madathil, your writings are exquisite. A window into your world and the things that stir you into putting pen to paper. India comes to life and not just the teeming streets but YOUR India as you see her. I do not praise lightly, do not concern yourself with the poem of the day our eyes and our own life experiences decide what is and is not profound, sad, hilarious, romantic, sorrowful, joyful and exuberant. In my mind's eye you are a humble, masterful teller of tales.....all my best to you, your family and your loyal friends. AGAIN - - -MERRY CHRISTMAS!
