Chunnel Poem by Stefan Splawinski

Chunnel

what madness to travel by train
down through that ghastly hole
from kent underwater to france
excavated by a steel cap mole

integration with the continent
heath is to blame for this error
pushing us closer to brussels
and that common market terror

wellington and churchill both
would surely turn in the grave
at the thought of foreign rule
who can now poor england save
