City Roads Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

City Roads

Road or Street? What do you call it?
Confused in the first line!
Or profound confusion is the key -
a peephole to go beyond and see.
Perhaps you know better than me
that in a swarm of bees, one Queen bee -
Pheromones keep the bees busy
and the Queen knows it's so easy!
Coming back to the city roads -
all I am talking are the potholes,
the famous name and the street
where you and I every other day meet.
We speak not about the fame -
Rather we say: What's in a name?
No petals, only about the pothole
All the show and who it stole!

All the names end in flames
All the bones into fossil,
There is a statue, standing still -
Potholes upon foot the bill.
