Clever Moon Poem by Felicity Whitacre

Clever Moon

The moon is keeping secrets there
behind its painted sky.
What I'd give to borrow just
one star to help me pry
those clouds back; let them fall below.
A blanketed ground of soft smooth snow,
as stars and heaven and secrets
all wash over me and drown me in
all that I want to, need to know.
Show me, show me, secret moon.
Don't you know me? Make me swoon
with secrets, answers, stars and love.
Drown me in what's yet above.
