Climbed A Mountain Poem by Herbert Hagell

Climbed A Mountain

I looked at many photos of
Different mountain scenes
Leave me with serenity
Refreshed like a good dream.

I ascend to the mountain top,
Just to breathe the fresh air.
I'm not a mountain climber
So I took the cable car.

Treked into a hidden valley.
A trickling brook with giant trees,
And further on my walk a sight,
Shook my soul down to my knees.

I stood on a rocky ledge,
Looking over the desert each way.
My heart stood still, I took my fill
The vista took my breath away.

The contrast between the valley,
So lush, so full and so green,
And the painted desert land
From here looked barren and lean,.

Like my empty soul felt
Before you came to me.
We scaled to the apex of love,
And found serenity.
