if I was a mermaid
would you still love me
if I lived under the sea
for us

if I was a bird
would your arms still carry me
if I could set myself free
and fly

if I was a lion
in the desert sands
would you still hold my hand
like you used to

you said if I needed you then I just had to scream
and you’d come running
and don’t be scared
because you’d be there for me

and I was scared
for you that day
because I couldn’t be
there for you

and I screamed at your
empty body and held
your lifeless hands and I

shouted,
don’t leave me, you promised
to always be there for me

and I’m here for you,

I cried,
I’m here for you



then you closed your eyes
and died
