Cloudy Day Poem by Alec Hall

Cloudy Day

Rating: 5.0

The shadow of doubt
She looms briefly over my shoulder
I knew nothing, know nothing about
My heart's wishes, for when I'm older.
She hangs there, accumulating more and more
Calm before the storm, calm before the storm.
The widespread cast of grief
She takes me in, I am covered
Protected from her, inside I feel relief,
But my outside self hasn't yet discovered
What I feel within.
Then the true feelings begin, they begin.
The tortuous storm of anger
She consumes my land about me
I run, run to my chamber-
My chamber will save me.
Right?
Alright?
Is everything alright?
The worst is now in sight.
The tumultuous sadness breaks down my door
She rips and tears everything I hold close.
She knows not the ruins of this war.
But She ventures on, onward, She knows
Not what She seeks, but the same shall occur
To those who fall in its path, I am sure.
But things won't go back to how they were.
I exit my chamber, I now see what has passed.
The rain falls on my head, yet I walk.
I walk, left only with my mind and my past;
To think about Her, her empty talk.
But only a flood is left.
My chamber, I have left.
