Cocooned Independence Poem by Renee Wade

Cocooned Independence

I surround myself with my independence
All the I can's and all the I will's and will do's
To hide my need and want for dependence on another

To depend on is to offer yourself
And to offer another piece of myself after it already being taken from
Doesn't feel viable

I cocoon myself in independence
To make my world make sense
Because I'm too afraid of the thought of dependence.
