Cody Poem by Tracy Craighead

Cody

Cody

My son, stars and moon
I have dreamed and prayed
All of My life for my first baby boy
someone like you
Red-haired and strong
Loyal, brave and true
I would have a little boy
To cuddle, and to hold
To gaze at and to know
You would bring riches untold
And You would be my very own

To raise a boy into a man
A huge task to behold
Made harder by your smile
And your infinite charm
You always know the way
To snuggle into my arms
To capture my heart,
To enter my soul
And to change my mind
When I try to discipline
Or look sternly into your eyes
I never can be harsh with you
You melt me and soften me
With Your wise ability to hypnotize

You are set so very deep in my being
You are my weakness, this you know
I will be your mother and no matter
How hard I try, I can never let go
All you've ever had to do
Was to ask me for something
Knowing That, without thought,
I will give it to you

My intention, wrong as it seems
Was to care for you, so perfect
So complete, so true
That my little Cody would
Always need me
And no matter much you grew
My boy, you would always be

You are becoming a man
This I can easily see
But it's not just your height
It's the shadow of maturity
It crept in when I wasn't looking
And turned you into this man
held back by nothing, living with abandon

You charisma is blinding
And is apparent for all to see,
You put people at ease
With a genuine spirit
A wise and daring soul
All can now see
the beauty
The essence
of my Cody

Nice one for Cody... What more would one be much glad at than a poem from the heart of mum like this. Good work. God bless you
