Coffee In Ann Street Poem by Alistair Graham

Coffee In Ann Street

Rating: 5.0

We were sitting in a café in Ann Street
drinking coffee
The aroma of freshly ground beans filled the air
above our heads
An elderly couple in the corner had a bag each
on their laps
They were poking around, looking at stuff
they had bought
A waitress beside us bent over
to pick up a spoon
We looked through the glass at the tables
on the street outside
A man and a woman sat talking and drinking
coffee with a cigarette
The man with the woman shifted his weight
onto one buttock
We couldn't smell it but we knew
he had farted
We finished up and walked out
into the autumn air
