Cold And Wintry Poem by Marilyn Lott

Cold And Wintry

Once again it’s that time of year
When a winter cold-snap appears
Oh, the iciness surrounds us
Maybe worse than we’ve had in years

But the beauty is a winter sculpture
Like a picture postcard from the mail
Everything stands still it seems
Tiny plants become so frail

Our breath seems to hesitate
As it’s locked right into space
Like the horse I see at the gate
Ice forming on his charming face

And when we go for a ride we travel
On roads that are white with snow
Every detail etched on the ground
Water in the streams cannot even flow

But you know, it’s such a short time
To enjoy this slow icy pace
So get out your cameras, folks
And snap this frozen wintry place!
