Thank you, I appreciate your words, but I have to tell you that I have never been in a war. This piece is just a part of a family tradition of writing something about war every Veterans Day.

As the saying goes, 'the more things change, the more they stay the same'. This is a heartfelt, sad but very powerful piece of writing. War is war, and there will always be those left behind, and even though you were spared the worst, still that is difficult to live with. Those memories are embedded in your mind and your heart forever. Nicely done. Linda
