Mariner holding the hand of the wedding guests
And telling the story
By siting on the guard wall of the house
And the listener too awe-struck by the tale he told,
What did it happen to one day
When on sea, what crisis overtook him,
How fraught was he with the tumult doing the rounds
Forsaken by faith and doubt,
How dishevelled and distraught did he look to,
When he shot the albatross with the cross-bow
Inviting unwanted misery and misfortune,
Ill-luck, doom, calamity and ruin.
Repudiating hospitality and good hope,
But when atoned he for, confessed he to the guilt
After suffering for, paying the price of,
Things started to change
With the sail responding to
And he and his friends recovering,
His days of sin and expiation coming to a close
And the lands getting visible to
With the landmarks appearing on.
