Our words connect like giant chains
We create a tug of war, but no one gains
We cut and paste to find real truth
As if somehow we knew each others’ youth
We search for common ground to soothe our hearts
Not knowing if a new beginning is where it starts
Like a crossword puzzle we seek for clues
Yet tap dance around issues that won’t create a bruise
If we could for a moment step inside each others’ shoes
We‘d have a better understanding of each others’ views
Up to now the chains have seemed to hold
With each line a new admiration begins to unfold
So we attempt to breathe in unison
Hoping our recipe for poetry is well done
We hope to taste an unknown fruit
The binds a friendship and really takes root
