Color Me Poem by alex haywood

Color Me

Evading the clammy hands of lust
I pour passion into the spaces

Fractured thoughts of love
slip through my mind
cool and crisp as a mountain stream

darkness wipes me out,

Aspiring to water I flow in to dreams
on a bed that wears the stain
of loneliness on white linen.

Something precious is leaking.

Emotions painted on
my hearts feels
like an actor in a Kabuki play

How I wish it was a clown instead!

I wrestle my face away,
unstick my skin from the make-up
and expose it to sunlight

Color me some flowers, my love
so they may be reflected
on my cheeks.
