Colossus Poem by Narieth Elin

Colossus

It seemed like any other common route,
With soothing curves and yet so mute,
Tranquil shapes aback, afoot.
Calm and free it's all for me,
Get lost, enjoy, evoke and be.

I feel the strands of my own mind,
Tightened grip of doubt entwined,
Endure this grasp, alone confined,
Piercing prison devoid of reason,
I once was dead but now have risen.

Ruptured rifts align in turmoil,
Broken skies that taint my soil,
Alas, my mind and soul embroil,
I am broken down at last alone,
Keep me alive, I will atone.

And finally,
When all is calm and all done-over,
This beast, behemoth incites takeover,
Roaring, punching, stomping, crying,
Keeps me beaten smashed and dying.
And finally,
The last of thoughts elude my calling,
The last of lust ends up falling.
I can breathe this dampness, shape a story
And feel this sadness in all its glory.
