Colour Combinations Poem by Trevor Butler

Colour Combinations

They say, blue and green should never be seen,
And neither should purple and puce.
Orange and grey are just perfect for play,
But for best there's no earthly excuse.

Saffron and taupe make dressmakers gawp,
A trend that could never be righted.
Striped black-and-white is considered alright
On the likes of Newcastle United.

Pillarbox red can be worn on the head,
But not with the same coloured drawers.
Yellow and brown are far better for town,
In summer, not winter, of course.

Vermillion and pink make ev'ry heart sink,
They give out horrendous vibrations.
Magnolia and fawn should only be worn
In private, not public occasions.

Beetroot and cream are like a bad dream,
Accessories are just too tricky.
Salmon and musk look much better at dusk,
When you can't see who's taking the micky.

Primrose and plum look fantastic on some,
Especially in leather or plastic.
Oatmeal and stone exist best on their own,
Their draining effect is too drastic.
