Colour Of Experience Poem by Thabile Nhlapo

I was given a white ticket to life
I used it to paint my world
The colour of my experiences

Confused, I didn't know which colour
best resembles my life
But then why limit my self
when I have all the colours before me

With red-it drew me to love, freedom of expression
and exposed me to gratitude and love beyond self

Yellow documented my confusion through this maze called life.
It taught me never to let confusion and blurriness of vision
deter my plans

Blue, a reflection of my value and class, I am royalty.
I let my inner beauty be a reflection of beauty
And a peep preview of my soul

Black, symbolizes boldness beneath my emotions
Hides pain and reflects my strength

Green shows off my tenacity, adventure
And a green card that says all systems go-no limits! ! !
Exploration here I come

Turquoise communicated the peace deep within me
Even in the mist of pain,
life's hardships and challenges along the way

Orange the language of joy,
Happiness and optimism-I am alive,
A gift that brings daily joy to my life.

Beige reminds me of my passion,
My destiny and my dreams that are so big they scare me
The reason I am doing what I am doing today to secure the manifestation of those dreams

Brown reminds me that I am a mortal being-make today count for tomorrow may not come, to the dust I shall return.

Indigo paints the tranquility of my inner self,
Conversations with my soul.
To some madness but to me a space to draw closure
And maintain my sanity.

With white paint-colour of freedom-openness to experience
....Colour of all my experiences
