Comfortable - Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

Cozy inside my skin
Of fleets – lewdly guised
Beneath a veil of nonchalance.
I am such a great pretender
Among the stars that feign sparkles
In between lucid intervals and lapses.
I lust for a conversation
And I can feel your presence draw closer
And closer like the distance between
A sinister marauder’s finger behind
The boorish trigger of an espoused pistol.
I lust for amity
And there you were with your amenities
That equate to the infinitude of the evergreen pastures.

But then, I punctuated my statements,
And closed the lids of every entrance
To my porous body of cumbersome disgrace.
I am alone,
And I will never be alright
And that feels alright.
For I feel capable.
Capable of catching bodies
And send them into a straying reality.
I am able.
I am comfortable alone.
I could only listen to the clattering of my bones
As I walk this path
With only the stark wind to accompany me.
