Comfortable Silence Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Comfortable Silence

They stare at each other at a loss for words.
What could they say they haven’t already heard?
Neither one knows what they want to say,
And both of them want the other to stay.
Speaking of nothing yet still saying much,
Actions are speaking with a gentle touch.
They cannot stay forever like this,
So they part ways with a gentle kiss.
They both turn and look before walking away,
Both realizing that they cannot stay.
They both walk away with their feelings intense,
After sharing a comfortable silence.
