Communique Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Communique

I don't know manners
Etiquette or the art
Art of receiving-
I don't know the words
And vocabulary
Or the art of thanks.

It's an honour
Honour to receive
A simple gift
What to talk of gifts.
Vowing down in gratitude
For each moment
And each object-
Around, over and above
Below and beneath
Aside or beside
Wherever, goes insight
Imagination ignites
Creativity creates
All being invaluable
And priceless.

No one knows the giver
Never seen, never met
Anywhere, any time
Except hopefully
Hopping to meet.

Itching itch itching
How to thank
Thank enthusiastically
After having received
Everything as gift
In presence of all.

How to acknowledge
And how to express
Either orally or in writing
To whom and to where-
The heart written notes
To be addressed.

Left with no e-mail
Or cello phone
To respond to
The generosity
And graciousness
Of the Benefactor.
How shall
Shall I communicate?
