Compact 1 - African Poem by Tasara Clyde

Compact 1 - African

Compact 1

My deep black
Chest rust
Sepia
Is the colour of trouble
On an African skin

My deep dark skin
Rich
Tough
Resilient
Flowing over deep white probabilities
Of my African bone

My deep dark thoughts
Sick
Settled
Unchanging
Forever frothing and boiling in the summer heat
Of an African summer

My deep dark sacred thoughts
Festering
Scary
Simmering
In the abnormal depth of deep seated evil
Forever unchanging
The colour of my colour
Is the mark of a man of colour
It is my seal
African
