Companions Of Loneliness Poem by Mary Elise DiVita

Companions Of Loneliness

Rating: 5.0

The invisible man walks into the room
She watches his shadow, alone in the gloom
The invisible man or invisible he seems
She contemplates; and refutes sending a scream
Alone in the room he sits to think
Of times and places beyond the brink
She sits in the hall wishing to feel
Anything other than her soul’s lonely wail
What does the future hold?
Will he come through?
Or will she have to hold the pieces dripping with glue?
She sees through his pain and despair
To the lonely soul shriveling in fear
What can she say?
How will it help?
Or does she just leave and hope that is stops
Daylight is breaking but the shadows still stay
Companions of loneliness, with them all the way.
