Complicated World Poem by Pico Joule

Complicated World

Poetry uncomplicates it for me.
Jumble up some poorly assembled words.
And the pain starts to shy away.
Pain of the separation that shatters my rib cage.

Poetry helps me to ease out the distance between us.
It connects me and you to the commonalities.
The moon and stars.
The dust and the crimson sky.

My silent pen destroys the promises.
Promises of not breathing in the same air without you.
Of leaving my abandonment issues.

Poetry makes me a liar.
I drown my pen in ink and write about our happy place.
About how I don't miss you and that I turn off the TV on all nights.
Poems like this which say my loneliness doesn't need your company.
