Confused Beginnings Of Love Poem by Silas Rosalie Dumont

Confused Beginnings Of Love

Did he call me out of line
Or was I presumptuous
Why didn't I say my lines
Did I blank in the spotlight
Or is that just an excuse
The hardest part of an essay
Is the introduction, and so it is with people
But we're introduced
So what happened
My coffee is more bitter than usual
Of the milder punishments for cowardice
Should I really be drinking this coffee?
My heart's already off its rhythm
Because of him and craven shame
Why don't you lead me to battle
You who mock and jeer
Get out on the vanguard
You'll cry a different cheer
