Beds Of Lies Poem by Silas Rosalie Dumont

Beds Of Lies

Decadent and opulent these joys
Reflect upon my corrupt state of mind
I pay no heed to prophecies of old
Over me no power do they hold
I sit in a privileged luxury
And ignore the many problems which
Surround me and my very existence
Wars and bombs, they disturb me not
Economic crises I easily
Push them back to resolve them later
When I will be a struggling student
Hoping to change that which I cannot
Such is the way of this new generation
Sentenced to die with the planet they love
And thusly not worrying too much of
The problems of their foremothers and
Forefathers who did so blindly trust
In the almighty dollar so grandiose
Which did lead them down this wayward path
To birth this apathetic progeny
Into a dying world of shame
In which we care not, to save our own
Sanity, our very sanity at stake
So before you laugh or criticize
Recall you raised us on beds of lies
