Confused With A Broken Heart Poem by Ronald Halvorson

My heart feels like it’s torn in two,
Why can't I just be with you?
Everyday another tear,
Everyday another reason why we can't.
I want to hold you in my arms,
I want to keep you safe from harm.
I act like things are all okay,
But I really want to run away.
Why won't your family just let me be a part,
I would be able to fix your broken heart.
I tell myself these things will work out,
But I don't think the problem will go away.
I never will be equal to them in your eyes,
They came from your flesh and not mine.
This will never change so I am left,
Out in the cold rain with my broken heart
