Contention Between You And I Poem by Jo M. Maghirang

Contention Between You And I

You are no different from any other in existence,
Yet thou has hardly been bested by no man;
'Yer intelligent, necessitating no assistance,
And so for aid, to thou I ran...

You were an advocate, yet a rival
And this contention between you and I remain unchanged;
Yet, that's how you and I fought for survival..
And you were one whom I had acknowledged;

I smile from above, yet I frown from beneath;
There it was again- yourself above me,
My blood boils, I felt like pulling a blade from it's sheath-
But part of just can't help but celebrate in glee..

An advocate, an acquaintance, a friend
Yet a rival, a target of my jealous self-
This pattern made no difference up 'till the end;
Yet my enviousness, I hide within the shelf

Years had passed since then, yet no change occurred;
My heart considers thou no different that before,
My point of view - yes - it is absurd;
But my love for you shines brightly within thy ore..
