Contract Poem by shimon weinroth

Contract

I promised thee
And thee in turn
Promised me
Love and loyalty

Times not changed
Customs remain
True marriage is crowned
With a promissory note
A token of vows

Are not words spoken, enough,
Must I put my allegiance in writing

Wiser men say sign the covenant
what's needed is a contract
Is it possible, to translate love's loyalty
Into dollars and sense
