Contrast Poem by Kieran Sam

Contrast

A lady in pink
chatting me up for a while,
Sparkling red wine in her glass,
all rapturous
moments
and its teasing warmth;

I nodded at times
in tune with electro music,
And
on the dance floor
all tattooed skin,
pierced flesh,
wrapped up in pleasing shapes.

A glance away
from the chandeliers
and flashing
Party lights,

through
windows half-open,
I saw
silhouettes
Of lonely pine trees
afar
On that cold night,
A cool breeze caressed my face
A fragrance of an old romance,
I breathe,
brings to my mind a picture:
a fragile young maid,
Our fondling touch,
warm kisses
And the celestial scent of her locks
Pervading my senses,
My little heart would then beat
Joyous and triumphant.

That smile!
on her face could vie,
With all these lips money could buy.

Our parting sad kiss and all
Years of separation,
Like heaven to hell contrast
With these lensed eyes
And empty looks,
dancing on this bare stage of conceit.
