Corncob Poem by MARINA GIPPS

Corncob

Rating: 4.5

my smile holds the dusty cornrows
of some field in Iowa,
inhabited by indians
one too many ears ago

even without
the sweet butter of their smiles
i eat of this cob
swallowing effortlessly,
their yellow teeth
