Counting The Star Poem by Sumanta Dhar

Counting The Star

When the dusk sets in
And the street lamps shimmer
The tiny shop at the corner of the lane
Starts serving fried brinjals and other oil fries
People start thronging inside buses
The cinema halls get filled up
Then on the street the kids and women
Who share and boast the pavements
Across my city
May stare at the sky
Not getting caught up
In bemusement
Because, because
They know to count the stars.
