Country Drive Poem by Marilyn Lott

Country Drive

Sometimes you just have to stop everything
Get into your vehicle and take a ride
Forget about your chores and duties
For a little while just let them slide

Out in the country air you drive
Windows down, air blowing through your hair
At the same time it blows away the weariness
For just a while you don’t have a care

Drive past old abandoned homesteads
That left behind so many family tales
If only you could peek inside
To find what those stories unveil

The windmills along the way
Are such a pleasant treat
And along this little journey
You may see someone you’d like to meet

Take the kids and dogs along
You don’t need to get a baby sitter
And if you’re traveling a red dirt road
Well, the trip gets even better!
