Cows
by Ted L Glines

Cows are not the brightest folks walkin down the pike
a bit like people - dumb - if you like
not much good but for chewin her cud
always swept away by every little flood
lazy and mooin with her eyes all blank
walkin to the butcher rank by rank
beware of the cow who is lookin sad
retarded - maybe - don't get her mad
you ain't seen nothin on screen or stage
to match the fright of Mad Cow rage
and if you want advice - maybe a clue
from a people-ish bovine point of view
the idea of vengeance is nothin new
and those sad brown eyes are lookin at you
Mooooooooooo! ! !

Susan said, 'I ain't gonna be Wilson's cow. Never! At least not now. But who knows when the time comes Perhaps I'll change my mind, some. Cause being a cow isn't all that bad. Place to live and of course be fed. A place respected in society. No reason for any showing of pity.' Of course a cow has to provide Privileges on the side, Which the new owner Can at his time and place, plunder. It's a balance of pro and con And Susan made the choice as a woman Taking the way out for the rest of her life Living alone, not as a wife. Susan, now old and spent Would like to repent, But Wilson's found a new bovine for his pen And has no interest in what might have been. (A true story.) s
