Crawl Poem by Isabelle Cote

Crawl

Sleeping soundly
I awake suddenly, my heart is racing

Until the sun pours through my shade
screaming at me
to wake up
I gently lift myself off of the bed
It was only a dream
You're gone
Now the only thing I can do
Is
Crawl
Until I have the strength
to get back up
to stop thinking about how much I WISHED it could have been real
I can't stand any longer
you weaken me
until i fall,
I drift, to the ground
I crawl
lean against my door
and I wish
