Cremation Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Cremation

Ashes or earth, a choice we face,
When life's journey finds its place.
Cremation's flame, a rising trend,
For space and cost, a practical end.

But whispers rise from hearts that pray,
Does fire take faith's path away?
The Bible's words, a gentle guide,
No clear command to set aside.

Burial's grace, a custom old,
Of stories told and lives to hold.
Abraham's rest, and Jesus' tomb,
A seed of hope, dispelling gloom.

The temple's shell, some say with care,
Deserves respect beyond compare.
But spirit soars, beyond the frame,
God's loving touch, the saving name.

Pagan fires, a past we know,
Cast shadows on the flames below.
Yet motives change, and hearts take flight,
Towards the heavens, filled with light.

Salvation's bond, not ash or sod,
But faith in Christ, the living God.
Resurrection's power, strong and true,
Rebuilds from dust, and starts anew.

So choose with peace, and choose with love,
The earthly form, or flames above.
For Christian hearts find solace deep,
In life eternal, souls to keep.
