Cricket Champions Poem by Piyali Mitra

Cricket Champions

Men in Blue Rocks
Rishab Pant stooped low
and gave in to duck
Surya plucked the game
Beyond the rope
Incomprehensible a catch
To change the match.

The 'Hitman' gave a good start
For him later to part
While Virat, the Hitter
Wrecked havoc on the pitch
With bat in hand and
ball in flight he twitched
the game to a good show
With Patel he did the unthinkable

The Proteas choked
The folks never got broke
But failed to search
A way to halt the rivals as such
As they missed to find fault
Giving way to the
Men in Blue
to hold the cup of joy
When billion hearts
Back home
thumped and danced
In ebullience most desired.
