Cross The Bridge Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Cross The Bridge

We loved to hear our parents tell
Of legends long ago
Of Heaven’s Light of darkest hell
Before to bed we’d go

But Heaven’s not a fairy tale
Hell’s fire’s not a lie
Satan we’ll see when life we fail
Beyond the day we die

Eternity waits for everyone
Beyond the silent tomb
But only those with Christ God’s Son
Will flee hell’s dreadful gloom

Let’s cross The Bridge to life dear friend
Upon The Wind let’s ride
Let’s flee from death before time’s end
Beyond the great divide

For surely death draws ever near
Surely his face we’ll see
Yet only those have need to fear
Who have no Guarantee!

Without The Lord God Jesus Christ
Without His Fire within
Without the blood He sacrificed
To wash away the sin

But who’ll believe and see The Light
Who’ll walk Salvation’s path
Be perfect in The Father’s sight
And flee the coming wrath

Let’s turn to whom The Father sent
Let’s through His wisdom learn
Only a fool will not repent
Only a fool will burn
