Crossing River Cuckmere Poem by Richard G Berg

Crossing River Cuckmere

River restlessly
Under the wind's watch, until
We cross what you mean
Unwilling to hypnotise
Ignoring our naked feet

In this crossing's now
We touch stones' hardness, bending
Time smiles dry word reeds
We re-learn walking, to be
While water wobbles light's trust

We reach the other
Side and reach another side
Of our thoughts. River
Frolicking its swifter course
We drown the news in our shoes
