Crutches Poem by Weldon Davis

Crutches

If I ever take
These crutches off
Attempt to walk
On my own again
I will find pure bliss
Run like the wind
There is a joy in my heart
I feel it in the night

A new strength
Invigorates me
Shapes me
Tells me
I do not
-Nor-
Did I ever need
These crutches
To help me
Stand on my own two feet
In this world
Of
Freedom, truth, and
Civility
