Crystal Ball Dreams Poem by Alejandro Torres

Crystal Ball Dreams

I wish someone would say
My name
And tell me
About your face
After your initial shock
Your dismissive glance away
That delicate frown
That would take over your mouth
Or the crease in your brow
Just to prove your displeasure
I always knew
You never did love me
But I created a crystal ball
Full of fairytales and promises
That was just too high
For you to catch
And when it did crash
There was no gluing it back together
That little bit of soul
I left in there
Slipping through your fingers
Like my life slips through me
That beginning I gave us
Was enough for two endings
You effected without hesitation
I just wish someone could prove me false
And grant me just a sliver
Of hope
