Crystal Dove Poem by Alex Fischer

Crystal Dove

Life a fear
A setting sun
Death a course
That’s just begun
Showing many
Showing some
Of the crystal dove
That shattered above

So what of this dove?
This once bird of hope
What made it die?
Fade away with the smoke
Gently into the breeze
Dying slowly at the end of our show

It came one day unexpectedly, I did not know
From a special person that was about to show
What love was like and how it showed
A new life that will be free and peaceful
A new path that will lead to a better future

Yet this seemingly perfect life
Of love and happiness galore
Lasted for but a year
And then was so unexpectedly terminated
As strangely as it came
As strangely as it left
Gone without a trace
A year of my life now spent

This life this love
Was a beautiful crystal dove
Yet it is now broken, shattered
Dead forever and gone and severed
Will it reform?
This shattered dove?
I know not, but I doubt it will ever come
The dove is shattered, lost and gone
The key is gone never to show again
Never to be used by love

So far I believe this
I give my solemn word
That will stand strong forever
I shall have no other
To express my love towards
To hold and kiss when I am sore
I shall have no other
To tell secrets of lore
I shall have no other
To have on long nights so bore

Now this my solemn word shall stand
Until the last grains of sand
Pass through my time glass
Or unless the crystal dove
Comes and reforms again
And soars on in my heart
Flying off again
