Death Comes To Me Poem by Alex Fischer

Death Comes To Me

Life is a darkening world
The icy shadow of death overcomes me
I embrace it showing no fear
I realize now that some things in life are not meant to be
Every person has at least one thing that does not work for them

The black rose resembles it all
It slowly devours the red rose, petals and all
It moves on and rids of a part of life
I feel it cut from my heart, the one cut twice
Never to grow back
But I know I must move on, without this sentimental lag

Life is defiled, this I know
The last strands of life are about to unfold
And in these dark times hope still remains
When the world ends and we all live again
But yet I stay here all alone
Waiting for the day when the rock meets the stone
And in that sad time all that shall remain
Are the bones and the flesh of the merry and the lame

Time will move on and so shall I
Taking at my own pace and at my own time
Alone in the world I shall ever be
Unless that beautiful witch comes back to me
Different says the witch
But what does she know?
She thinks she knows the path of a laden swallow
Yet she is far off, she has now lost the key
And lost it shall be evermore to me

When Hell and Heaven meet up and life shall end
Maybe someone shall find the key again
But I doubt they'll do that for it is forbidden
With the piece of my heart that has been hidden
The one that the beautiful witch cut out with a knife in her hand
And my bloody tears that stained the land

But if you should find it despair shall come unto thee
And you will cry for eternity
And if that beautiful witch ever does love me
Once again I shall give her the key
But alas that thought is dead to me
As is my heart
As dead as me
